How To Make a Website Icon
A web icon, also known as a favicon, site icon, or website icon, is the little image or logo on the tab of a website. Icon design is as simple as setting up the page, adding your artwork and using the Export option in CorelDRAW to create an .ICO file.. Web Icons are used everywhere from the Windows desktop to iOS, OSX or Android devices and they all have specific requirements.
1. Set the page size
Depending on the size of the image, it will determine the document size. From the New Document dialog box (File > New), in the Name: field type the name of the file as ‘4Sale’. Next, from the Preset destination drop-down, select Web. You will notice that this changed the unit of measure to pixels and the Rendering resolution to 96 dpi. Below Size, set the Width to 130 and Height to 130. Click OK.
2. Adding Graphic elements
From the (File > Import) and browse to where the logo is and import it. Position the logo on the page and size it to 128 x 128.
3. Export the icon
When exporting an image that will be used as an icon, it is recommended that a .ICO file is used, although there are some apps that will accept other formats. Select the design and from (File > Export) In the Save as type dropdown select ICO - Windows 3.x/NT Icon Resource (*.ico;*.exe;*.dll Ensure that there is a check mark in the Selected onlyoption. And click Export. This will open a Convert to Bitmap dialog. In the Convert to Bitmap dialog box accept the defaults and click OK. The next dialog that opens is the Convert to Paletted Dialog. It’s here that you can select the type of palette that should be implemented when creating the ico file. Under the Palette drop-down make sure that Optimized is selected. This will ensure that there are the smoothest transitions between the colors.
